The other day, the laboratory of hydrogen and electrochemical energy was expanded with a measuring complex connecting the functions of a differential scanning calorimeter and high-quality analytical scales

The strategic project "Habitat", implemented in VyatSU under the "Priority - 2030" program, is of particular interest to the public: because it aims to bring a significant reduction in the negative anthropogenic effect on the environment by transition to green energy.

At the Institute of Chemistry and Ecology of the largest university region, they work to create fuel cells that convert the chemical reaction energy into electric. This activity involved high-class specialists, decisive tasks with the help of equipment corresponding to high international standards.

Recently, a synchronous thermal analyser was purchased for the hydrogen and electrochemical energy laboratory. Now it is the process of being integrated into the work of researchers.

"The device connects the differential scanning calorimetry and thermographic analysis. In other words, it simultaneously encompasses the "trap" for the thermal response of systems and scales that allow you to track changes in the mass of the sample placed in the device" - Candidate of Chemical Sciences Naya Sayetov told.

The synchronous thermal analyzer makes it possible to study the processes occurring with different substances when heated, including sorption, desorption, sintering, decomposition. This work is important for creating new materials capable of ensuring the transition to green energy.

"All our materials, including ceramic electrolytes, glass sealants, are components of various electrochemical devices that will either work on hydrogen, or produce hydrogen" - Anna Stroyeva explained, Candidate of Chemical Sciences.

The new device can be used to solve a wide range of tasks - not only material science, but also fundamental.
