Elena Gordeeva, a scientist of the VyatSU Law Institute, spoke about the significance of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the importance of cooperation with it

On October 16, the World Food Day, the exhibition “FAO: Stages of a Long Way. 75 years in the service of progress” dedicated to the anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO UN) was held in Moscow. This year the motto of the event was “Grow, feed, support. Together”.

The vernissage was held in the format of a videoconference between FAO partners: experts, heads of relevant ministries and departments, representatives of the scientific community, industry associations and public organizations. The associate Professor of the Department of theory and history of state and law of Vyatka State University, Elena Gordeeva took part in the video conference at the invitation of the press attache of the FAO department for communication with the Russian Federation Vladimir Mikheev.

Elena Mikhailovna said that FAO is the oldest and one of the most representative specialized organizations of the UN system. For 75 years, FAO staff have been fighting hunger, helping to strengthen countries' food security, developing rural infrastructure and improving living standards. According to FAO expert estimates, a quarter of the world's population lives in rural areas. Agriculture and related industries provide livelihoods for nearly three billion people. Today, the main efforts of 194 FAO member countries, including the Russian Federation, are aimed at eliminating hunger and ensuring food security in all countries by 2030.  Humanity will be able to develop sustainably only on the basis of a healthy and full-fledged life of all inhabitants of the Earth.

Together with our partners, we must both generate knowledge and put it into practice to achieve the great goal of eliminating poverty, hunger and malnutrition around the world -

FAO General Director Qu Dongyu stated in his video message on the occasion of the anniversary.

The role of FAO is very important. Not only because the problem of eradicating hunger is very acute, but also because in today's conditions it is necessary to increase food in a sustainable way, that is, without compromising human health and the environment in the present and future, combining the most modern scientific and practical approaches. Today, FAO is a link between various partners with proven knowledge and experience. FAO promotes dialogue between those who have knowledge and those who need it. By transforming knowledge into action, FAO promotes mutually beneficial links between local, national, regional and global initiatives,- said Elena Gordeeva.

VyatSU joins in congratulations to the UN FAO on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the organization and expresses hope for the continuation and expansion of constructive cooperation.
