History
REC Nanotechnology was created in 2010. Initially, the center was launched as an opportunity to bring together VyatSU scientists from different scientific schools and directions. REC is an investment subject of the Federal Target Program "Development of nano-industry infrastructure in the Russian Federation for 2008 - 2011 years". Participation in this program let the University create a unique center with world-class equipment that is available nowhere else in the region.
On July 8, 2011 the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation approved the list of organizations - members of the National nanotechnology network. It is represented by 50 organizations of Russia, including National Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute", Central Research Institute of Structural Materials "Prometheus", Technological Institute for Superhard and Novel Carbon Materials, Central Research Institute of Chemistry and Mechanics named after D.I.Mendeleev, All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials and others. Vyatka State University with “Nanobiotechnology” is also included in this list.
The Center facilities should be completed in the nearest future. For the next 5 years the University is to take part in diversified activities of the national nanotechnology network, not only in nanobiotechnology area, but also in the areas of:
- nanoengineering,
- nanochemistry,
- functional nanomaterials and high-purity substances,
- functional nanomaterials for energetics,
- engineered nanomaterials,
- composite nanomaterials,
- nanotechnologies for security and others.
