In the project "Lectures at the Polytechnic" Oleg Bartunov will speak about the impact of “Big Data” on science, technology and our life.

On February 20, 2018 at 17.00 Oleg Bartunov (Moscow) will deliver a lecture on the topic: "Data Science, Elephant’s Way, or not forgetting to dream".

Everything has been changing now into inter-machine interaction. This is our future, because a person needs to be left an opportunity to dream,
 - Oleg Bartunov says.

The lecture will raise the problem of total influence of Big Data - how it changes modern science, technology and personal life itself. First of all this lecture is about the use of computer technologies and databases in astronomy, and the role of information in science. Scientific activity requires high speed and processing of data up to hundreds of petabytes. An example of super-large data in astronomy is the LSST telescope project, generating 30 terabytes of data per night of continuous observations. For comparison, the Library of Congress occupies only 15 terabytes. Simultaneously with the growth of data, the requirements to their quality and level of analysis are increased. In this case, an increasing role in science is played by open software, which can give freedom of data exchange between researchers.

The listeners of the education project will learn a lot of interesting information about lifestyle of a successful professional - about his work, leisure and habits, the tools that he uses and many other things.

The lecture is to be held on February 20, 2018 at 17.00 Moskovskaya St, 36, VyatSU main academic building
