VyatSU acting Rector Valentin Pugach says that laboratories and research centers of the University cooperate with a number of Kirov high-tech companies: NANOLEK, URALKHiM, LEPSE, Kirov mechanical-engineering factory, Kirov tire factory. Their research is generally of applied nature and aimed at solving engineering and technological problems of Kirov industry.
Igor Vasiliev visited VyatSU Center of Nanotechnology, unique not only for the region but also among the neighboring regions. Unique laser equipment and electronic microscopes could be found here, that allows a wide range research to be carried out. The Head of the region could observe a research process of a cell structure of various substances.
«What are the economic sectors where the results of your research are used?» – the Head of Kirov region asked. The laboratory staff explained: in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, chemical, biotechnology and microbiological industry.
Besides, the acting Governor visited the Research Center for polymeric materials and the laboratory of pharmaceutical biotechnology.
At the meeting with activists of the University Igor Vasiliev said: «VyatSU is a vivid example of interaction between education, basic science and real economy».
- Professional training should be started since school time. And for universities it is their primary task, in my opinion, to form studying courses based on employers' request. Moreover, it is important from the very first-year to target future graduates to work at Kirov companies. We must do everything for as many young people as possible to stay working in our region, - Igor Vasiliev underlined his ideas.
By the results of the meeting, the Head of the region cleared out that interaction with employers and economic development is one of the most important tasks of the regional Government. Cooperation with VyatSU as the Basic University is an important part of this work, as there is a place to prepare personnel for basic industries.
- We agreed that we would develop joint cooperation based on fundamental and applied science, and education. Then it would give us the basis for business development and management decisions that would finally return to us in the form of taxes and new job positions. Another common goal is to become the leader among Basic Universities in the Russian Federation. The Basic University engaged in serious science, training highly qualified personnel, of course, should be one of Kirov’s brands", – the Head of the region said.
VyatSU acting Rector Valentin Pugach, in his turn, noted that his goal was to demonstrate to the Head of the region some features of the Basic University that had a very good science-practical and applied experience in the field of cooperation with partners. The acting Rector told the acting Governor that the University worked closely with businesses of all industries: chemical, pharmaceutical, construction, energy, engineering. VyatSU performs a wide range of various works for the strategic partners: including development, expertise, and scientific research. Valentin Pugach underlined that such interaction helped preparing students not only theoretically but also practically. This potential should be used.
Valentin Pugach gave the example of biotechnology development in the region. Thanks to creation of the Сentre of Excellence some investors were attracted to pharmaceutical biotechnology of the region. They have already built and are ready to build new pharmaceutical companies. In particular, NANOLEK complex that like VyatSU is included into a biopharmaceutical cluster "VYATKA-BIOPOLIS".
In general Valentin Pugach emphasized that VyatSU intended to develop close cooperation with the Government of the region and with partners in different sectors of the economy: collaboration had a positive impact on the socio-economic development of Kirov region.
