On March 15 The Faculty of History, Political Science and Cultural Studies of the Institute of Humanitarian and Social Sciences and the Research Archaeological Laboratory open an exhibition titled "The Light of Vyatka Tile".

Traditionally the central position in the Russian house interior was taken by a stove. Even in ancient times the stove was decorated by some clay tiles – a Russian clay “izrazets”. The tiles did not only decorate the stove, they also were essential elements of its construction.

The funds of VyatSU Archaeological Laboratory contain a large collection of stove tiles from the 17th - early 20th centuries that means from the period of terracotta tiles with motifs on them to various convex and polished tiles covered by polychrome patterns, as well as Russian factory tiles of the early 20th century.

The exhibited tiles have been found during archaeological excavations in Vyatka region; they belong to different stoves representing their various constructive parts.

The exhibition presents both unique Vyatka tiles, as well as commonly used ones in the whole Russia. The authentic exhibits combined with the reconstruction of tiles and some videos on the tiles’ production let the visitors follow the stoves’ evolution and development of stove tiles’ production as Russian decor elements.  It shows that tile art has broadly reflected the Russian life, customs and tastes of people.
