The Congress was held in July 2017 in Amsterdam. It is held every two years under the auspices of the European Federation of Psychologists' Associations (EFPA - http://www.efpa.eu/about).

The main idea of this Congress in Amsterdam is "Psychology touches upon the most essential problems of society".

A report "Cognitive complexity of consciousness and" Russian soul ": are there any points of intersection?" prepared by professor Nina Nizovskikh together with Olga Mitina, a senior researcher at the Laboratory of Psychosemantics and Communication of Moscow State University was presented at the Congress symposium "Internet Era - what we are and how we’re changing".

The presentation "The psychosemantic method of the attribution the motives to the life’s principles of personality"  described the results of studies on this psychosemantic method (authored by N.Nizovskikh, V.Petrenko). A distinctive feature of the methodology is that this technique allows to determine how different a person’s consciousness is in the sphere of self-regulation in one’s life; the methodology provides an opportunity to reveal the hierarchy of the life principles of a person, to understand the contradictions between life principles and their supporting motives, helps to understand the reasons of some life difficulties.

The significance of this technique using is determined by the fact that, unlike the widespread "objective approach", when a person is studied from the outside, that is from his character and external behavior point of view, this approach studies a person as the author of himself and his life, that means "subjectively" from one’s own meanings. The consciousness content of a modern personality is multidimensional.

On the one hand, it includes ideas coming from other people, from works of art, ideology, religion, personal experience, mass media, Internet, and so on. But ideas from the depths of his soul as a special substance and microcosm can penetrate into one’s consciousness too. For example, it can be a message of conscience. "In the human consciousness there is something that is not in his Psyche" (M.Mamardashvili).

Nina Nizovskikh speaks about the high effectiveness of participation in the congress. Relations with many foreign and Russian colleagues have been strengthened there, and some new vectors of cooperation between VyatSU as the Basic Regional University and the World psychological community have been outlined.

The 16th European Congress of Psychology will be held in Moscow on July 2-5, 2019. (https://ecp2019.ru/ru/). Early registration is already available. Vyatka psychologists are invited to participate there as well.
