On September 21, at the Engineeringium, the Vyatka State University Student Scientific Society held Science speed dating to establish interdisciplinary scientific cooperation within the university
Speed dating is a dating format during which participants move from table to table and quickly learn the most important things about each other. Usually 5-10 minutes are allotted for one acquaintance. Then the results are summed up, who and with whom wants to meet again.
In the case of scientific "speed dates" from SSS Vyatka State University, they are needed so that students and supervisors can find each other. 60 people from Vyatka State University took part in Science speed dating at the same time, of which 20 people are teachers of various departments, and 40 are students in search of projects. So, if there is a “match” at the table, another specialist will appear in the manager’s project team.
According to Anna Nikolaevna Chikisheva, head of the department of postgraduate studies, doctoral studies and research work, this is a new networking format for VyatSU:
"We are doing speed dating for the first time, this format is unfamiliar to our university and students. Therefore, this is a trial event, and then, if we receive positive feedback, we will refine it, launch it and replicate it across faculties and institutes."
The result of the event was an acquaintance between students of different specialties who are interested in starting their scientific work, and potential scientific supervisors, also from different faculties. So students will be able to try themselves in a variety of projects.
In 2022, SSS Vyatka State University won a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science for the development of student scientific societies. The Science speed dating event was held as part of a grant, as was the IQ marathon, the results of which became known on September 21. The first place was taken by Yana Zyryanova, a 4th year student majoring in Mechatronics and Robotics. Congratulations!
The event was held as part of the implementation of a grant in the form of subsidies from the federal budget to educational organizations of higher education for the implementation of activities aimed at supporting student scientific societies.
