The way VyatSU students want to see the main recreation area in Omutninsk undoubtedly deserves attention.
The project for the improvement of the embankment is designed for several years ahead and according to the idea of students and their teacher it consists of various modules. New modern areas therefore will appear on the embankment regularly one by one.
Now the Omutninsk embankment is just a number of lamps and benches, a stage and a playground, a small lighthouse and a statue of a worker with a sickle and a hammer as a central element. According to the project the embankment territory should be expanded, and new recreation areas should be added with pier, observation tower, Ferris wheel, and sports grounds.
The project feature is a hyperboloid tower with an observation platform and a spiral staircase inside, located on the pier that stands out from the embankment. The designers propose to install here some stationary binoculars to observe the embankment and pond. The embankment itself is proposed to be increased using pedestrian tiles to distinguish a pedestrian zone, and to use color marks for cycling and skating paths.
The next important area after the pier is the multifunctional center with a cafe, a medical center, toilets, and a playground with a Ferris wheel. So the project designers hope to solve the problem of leisure options.
A stage zone comes next. An old stage will not be moved anywhere, but the space around it will change. An area in front of the stage will be occupied by benches for spectators, and extra space around them will become a natural amphitheater for those who prefer watching performances lying on the grass.
According to the project more places for active recreation should appear on the embankment. An existing game zone will stay the same, and several new ones will appear around it: basketball and volleyball courts, a covered open air fitness zone, and a skate park.
Improvement of the embankment around Omutninsky Pond is a priority task of local authorities within the program "Creating a Comfortable Urban Environment". One third of the budget that Omutninsk will receive on this program will be spent for embankment reconstruction.
