University + Orthodox initiatives: results of the project

In 2021, the university became a partner of the ANO DPO "Interregional Center for Innovative Technologies in Education" in the implementation of a joint initiative to study the historical and cultural heritage of Vyatka using integrative means of science and art

The project "Memory as a space for creativity", which took place in the format of an art and educational intensive for schoolchildren and students to promote the Orthodox heritage of the region, was supported by the International Grant Competition "Orthodox Initiative - 2021" and became the starting point for preparing the university for the anniversary events dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the Kirov.

Three project initiatives

An important educational initiative of the authors of the project was the organization of scientific and consulting assistance to young researchers in the study of little-known facts of the biographies of the Vyatka clergy of both the pre-revolutionary, post-revolutionary, emigrant, and Soviet periods. In this sense, the life of Vyatka priests and people close to the Orthodox ministry in difficult periods of Russian history is important and interesting for schoolchildren and students as an example of the high mission of serving the ideals of national culture. The result of the archival, bibliographic, cultural search was a collection of scientific and creative works “The path of achievement. The fate of the Vyatka clergy”, the authors of which were more than twenty people under the guidance of scientific curators.

The grant initiative was the holding of creative laboratories for novice researchers in video dramaturgy, filming and editing, the work in which made it possible to popularize the existing scientific developments in the Orthodox history and culture of the region. More than forty people took part in the development of the author's content - these are schoolchildren and students of educational institutions in the city of Kirov.

The educational aims of the project determined the content of the artistic intensive, within the framework of which small-scale performances were held on the stage of the Kirov Drama Theater: “Vyatka in the Revolution”, “The Romanovs and Vyatka. Metropolitan Nestor”, which draws the attention of the townspeople to the spiritual exploits of the Vyatka priesthood of the early twentieth century, as well as the musical and dramatic production “Star of Christmas”. During the three theatrical work days, more than a thousand spectators were able to get acquainted with the new repertoire for the city.

January results

On January 17, 2022, at the site of the Boiling Point of VyatSU, the results of the project were summed up, the participants of the laboratories were awarded. Schoolchildren and students of the city of Kirov, including among the students of Vyatka State University, were presented with letters of thanks from the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy, the autonomous non-profit organization of additional professional education "Interregional Center for Innovative Technologies in Education", the Kirov Regional Drama Theater. A round table was organized and held with scientific curators, heads of project laboratories to discuss the prospects for further development of the project.

For the university, participation in such projects develops the experience of project participation with non-profit organizations in the city of Kirov, contributing to the expansion of educational and scientific tasks within the framework of the Vyatka State University projects “Experience of creative self-expression” and “Mechanics of memory. Artistic and educational intensive for the promotion of the historical and cultural heritage of the region.
