The virtual distance between the largest university in the Kirov region and the station "Progress" on the sixth continent was successfully overcome during an online meeting with a member of the Russian expedition Lev Sinkin

It seems that in the era of distance Internet users are not surprised by anything - the Institute of Chemistry and Ecology of Vyatka State University refuted this view. On December 18 together with with the Kirov Lyceum of Natural Sciences, an online meeting was held , the protagonist of which was Lev Sinkin, an IT specialist at 'Progress' Station on the shores of Pruds Bay in Antarctica.

The participants of the event were a team of students and teachers of Vyatka State University headed by the head of the Department of Geography and Methods of Teaching Geography Svetlana Pupysheva. She systematized a huge number of questions addressed to a member of the Russian expedition, which is now more than 14,000 kilometers from the largest university in the Kirov region.

How did he manage to get into the expedition team? What was the way to the station like? What are the top 5 things needed in Antarctica? Is it possible for tourists to come to the sixth continent, and how much will it cost? Lev Sinkin, a native of the Kirov region, told all this in detail and fascinatingly.

The wildlife of Antarctica has aroused the greatest interest. Lev Vyacheslavovich shared his observations of the penguins living here, just in case he warned against encroaching on their personal space. He talked about "communication" with the seal - also at a distance: after all, animals, no matter how cute and sociable they may seem, need careful and gentle handling.

Are there any power problems at the station? Only not for lovers of army noodles, to which the interlocutor from a distant continent belongs. It is summer and not much snow there now - the participants of the meeting were able to see this thanks to two videos shot by Leo especially for the geographers of Vyatka State University.

Not only the climate, relief and animals - thanks to the mini-movies, viewers were able to visit both the hero's home station and the neighboring Romanian-Australian station, where the guestbook already has an entry "Vyatka State University".

The virtual path to Antarctica has been paved, and its participants have questions again. All of them will be handed over to Lev Sinkin, who promised to shoot several more informative videos on their subject.

It remains to add that this year marks the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by the first Russian Antarctic expedition led by Thaddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev. It is symbolic that in the jubilee year Vyatka State University was able to discover the landscapes of this continent.
