On April 12, 2023, the traditional heuristic Olympiad for schoolchildren "France: known and unknown" was held at the Faculty of Linguistics for the fourteenth time as part of the project "Language, personality, activity: the view of young researchers" of the Department of Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages of the WIGOS Faculty of Linguistics
The Olympiad is a traditional April event that schoolchildren and teachers look forward to. This Olympiad was no exception and brought together about 70 students from the city of Kirov and our region. There are many permanent participants among the guests: Vyatka Orthodox Gymnasium in the name of St. Trifon Vyatsky, Lyceum No. 21 of the city of Kirov, Linguistic Gymnasium of Kirov, Gymnasium No. 1 of Kirovo-Chepetsk, school No. 47. Among the new guests are participants from school No. 8 Kirov and Lyceum of Kirovo-Chepetsk.
The theme of the Olympiad changes every year. This time the tasks were devoted to the geography of France. Students of the Faculty of Linguistics of the training direction "Pedagogical Education" worked at thematic stations. They took the participants along an interesting route: the borders of the country, its topography and natural resources, population and economic geography, rivers, seas, and even the flora and fauna of France.
This year, the team championship was won by the team of the eleventh grades of the MOAU "Lyceum No. 21" in Kirov, students of the MBOU Vyatka Orthodox Gymnasium (2nd place) and the team "Normandia-Neman" from the KOGOAU "Gymnasium No. 1 in Kirovo- Chepetsk" (3rd place). Good results were shown by participants from MBOU SOSH with UIOP No. 47 and MBOU "Linguistic Gymnasium" in Kirov.
In the individual championship, a well-deserved victory was won by Arseny Beresnev from the Lyceum of the city of Kirovo-Chepetsk, and the prize-winners were Anastasia Kaysina from the Lyceum No. 21 of the city of Kirov (2nd place) and Nikita Prozorov from the Gymnasium No. 1 of the city of Kirovo-Chepetsk (3rd place).
The Olympiad is an important milestone in the career guidance work of Vyatka State University, methodological and practical training of students of the Faculty of Linguistics. They carefully prepare the materials, hold competitions, check the answers of the participants, accompany the students at the stage of the team championship. This is a valuable experience of discovery and cooperation, a point of professional and cultural growth for pupils, teachers, students and teachers of Vyatka State University.
