One of the main tasks is the integration of VyatSU into the concept of Digital Economy.
"Blockchain is one of the main end-to-end technologies that will be the driver of digital transformations in all sectors of the national economy of the Russian Federation", - said Nikolai Nikiforov, Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation in June 2017 at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Therefore, there is nothing surprising in the fact that technology of distributed registry, by which completely independentcrypto-currencieshas already been created, has become one of the priority areas in the state program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”. Taking into account the fact that the future may generate a high demand for blockchain specialists VyatSU has decided to start studying this technology in Kirov.
As Anton Zemtsov, Director of VyatSU Institute of Mathematics and Information Systems said, the first step in this direction should be a competence center on the basis of the university. Blockchain Competence Center could solve several problems at once. There students could learn how to work with various (including domestic) blockchain-platforms, conduct research in the field of distributed registry technology. The center will help train students to solve specific problems related to the blockchain.
Among the companies that have already expressed their interest in creation of Blockchain Competence Center there are such giants as Gazprom Neft, Symantec and National Technology Initiative. In addition, such leaders in Blockchain technology as Higher School of Economics, ITMO and the Center for Distributed Registry Systems from Innopolis are being negotiated at the moment.
The opening date for Kirov Blockchain Competence Center is not settled yet, however, it may be launched in the coming months already.
