A project on monitoring physical efficiency of young sportsmen has been launched in sports school "Bystritsa".

The project was developed by recently created at VyatSU Department of Biomedical Disciplines Laboratory for morpho-functional state monitoring of athletes.

As its director Marina Morozova, Associate Professor, Candidate of Biological Sciences explained, the idea was originally taken from a coaching experience with young swimmers of swimming-pools of "Bystritsa" water palace.

Why children show significantly different results though they are trained together? How adequate are the exercises given to young swimmers? Is it possible to measure it somehow? It turns out that there is such a possibility; moreover, it is scientifically sound. It involves the using of thermal imager that has never been used in sports practice before. Indeed, this "smart" device is able to "make photography" of the human body causing no harm to health and demonstrate the changes in its muscles after physical exercises.

Scientific approach to improving the training effect, and hence, sports performance has interested scientists, coaches, young athletes and their parents. As a result, the experiment has been launched.

During the year, 90 young swimmers will be under special supervision of coaches, scientists and .... a thermal imager. VyatSU hopes that the project will bring practical benefits to the preparation of future champions.
