On April 23, 2017 the III stage of the All-Russian Volleyball competitions among women's student teams was completed in Samara. The information partner of the event is the Russian Student Center. VyatSU team took part in itdue to the program for student associations’ development (2017).
Vyatka State University team (coaches E.Chashchina and P.Gyrdymov) competed with the girls from Perm Krai, Ulyanovsk and Samara regions, and also from the Republic of Chuvashia: totally 6 university teams of the Volga Federal District.
They all were divided into 2 subgroups. Kirov girls started quite successfully. On the first day they beat rivals from Ulyanovsk region (USPU) with a score 3: 0. But later they lost their luck. By the draw our students had to play with the hostesses of the competition. Volleyball team from Samara State Economic University (SSEU) won VyatSU team with the score 3: 0.
In the semifinal our students met rivals from Perm National Research Polytechnic University. The struggle was exhausting. Each game ended up with a minimal score difference, but finally in favor of Perm team.
PNRPU team approached the final completely exhausted and lost to SSEU team 0: 3. The game for the third place became a real challenge for fatigue and exhausted students of Vyatka State University. As a result the "bronze" medal went to the team of Samara State Transport University.
By this qualifying stage SSEU and PNRPU teams go further to the finals of the All-Russian Volleyball competition among women's student teams – 2017 (to be held in May in Tambov).
The team of Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism (Kazan) will join them too without having taken part in these competitions, because a year ago it became the best one in our Federal district while selecting for the All-Russian Summer Universiade.
