VyatSU students win medals at the prestigious wrestling tournament again

The XXIII All-Russian tournament in Greco-Roman Wrestling in the memory of Nikolai Shmakov, the World Heavyweight Champion, famous athlete, and a native of Kirov region, took part in Lyubertsy (Moscow region) on November 24-26.

The competition involved 174 wrestlers who represented cities and towns of the Central Federal District and 20 Russian regions.

Experienced athletes met on a wrestling mat there. Two students from VyatSU Faculty of Physical Education and Sport had got 5 fights and they both lost to Moscow athletes just once.

In a weight category of 66 kilos Sergey Mashanov took the3rd place. Eugene Vysotin (weight category 71 kg) showed the same result.

For VyatSU students it was not the last start of the current calendar year. Now both athletes are preparing hard for the Russian Open tournament in memory of Sergei Taraskin, Master of Sports of the USSR that is to be held in Moscow in mid-December.
