December 14 is the second day of the inter-university forum of key regional universities, which takes place in Belgorod. The program includes round tables and discussion platforms, the main one of which is a panel discussion "Creating innovations: the first steps to be taken by regions to form them".
VyatSU rector Valentin Pugach took part in the discussion.
In his speech Valentin Pugach gave examples of interaction between Kirov region and Basic University:
The basic regional university serves the purposes of development of the region. For Vyatka State University and many others it means constant involvement in regional or republic affairs, participation in all significant events and events held by the regional government. But participation is just half of the work. The basic university itself actively forms regional economic, sociocultural, and, often, political agenda.
The first step along this path is the selection of urgent tasks for development of the region. For Kirov region they are creation of a biotechnological cluster with participation of at least 10 industrial enterprises, changes in the production structure at defense industry enterprises, formation of advanced development areas and preparation of infrastructure for implementation of basic investment projects.
Concluding his speech, Valentin Pugach noted that in Kirov region, as in many others, a real restart of the university had already took place, whereas business, government and society had changed their attitude to it.
