An agreement with a partner, a large oil and gas company in the country, was reached within the framework of the Congress of Young Scientists in Sochi

More than 3000 participants from 77 cities, dozens of events and hundreds of experts. The closing of the Year of Science and Technology in Russia has become a truly global event of the outgoing year. Among the invited guests - Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Andrey Fursenko, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation; Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education; rectors, scientists, winners of the competition “Leaders of Russia. Science".

VyatSU was represented at the congress by Yekaterina Mityagina, vice-rector for development based on data analysis, winner of the competition “Leaders of Russia. Science" of 2020. Our expert spoke at several venues at once and took part in many negotiations on expanding the area of projects and research of the university.

At the section “Personnel in Science and Education: the Potential of Personnel Competitions” Ekaterina Vladimirovna acted as a speaker. The topic is recognized as extremely important and close. The main issue of the discussion is the combination of the positions of a manager and a scientist.

"The result of scientific activity should be scientific discoveries, therefore, the management of science should come from the side of scientists or administrators associated with scientific activity. Indeed, in addition to many professional opportunities, such contests allow you to answer the question "Who am I?" and can become a powerful tool for self-development. Personally, I received a multidimensional analysis of my competencies, part of the analysis is done by experts, part - by trained neural networks. Realizing that you are failing, you can make a powerful leap."

Improving the quality of research management; targeted work with the winners of the competition within the scope of their scientific interests; ensuring continuity in science through the work of the winners with mentors from among talented scientists. This is how Professor Mityagina sees the further support of the winners of the scientific track of the Leaders of Russia competition, the organizers of which set themselves an ambitious task - to find managers in this specific and elite sphere.

However, another topic close to the soul and professional work of our expert aroused no less keen interest at the congress. Ekaterina Mityagina delivered her lecture “Big Data in the Social Sciences and Humanities” at the stand of the "Russia - Land of Opportunities" platform.

"I talked about what big data is, what are its main sources, as well as the research of our university, carried out in conjunction with the University Consortium of Big Data Researchers. Among them: stress and psychological well-being of students during a pandemic; search and attraction of talented applicants; analysis of social media data on alumni and much more. The congress provided an opportunity to communicate with leading scientists and managers in the field of science and higher education. At some point I caught myself thinking that almost every second forum member is familiar to me. We discussed an insane amount of interesting ideas and plans.

Among the plans and ideas today there is one that in the near future may become a real breakthrough in the study of the facts of the Great Patriotic War. Is it possible to structure and process a huge amount of data using Big Data? It is possible, and Vyatka State University is ready to do this in the near future. Partners have already been found. But, that's a completely different story. Details coming soon."
