On November 28 an extraordinary event for Kirov happened - the first University climbing wall was opened.

This is a result of VyatSU victory in the competition of Programs for development of student’s associations. The RF Ministry of Education supported the competition with grants.

In Kirov suchlike sports facilities are not numerous at all. So opening of VyatSU climbing wall is a very important event in the sports life of the city.

The new construction has become a perfect addition to various sports life of students.

"This climbing wall has met, perhaps, the most massive need, - Pavel Shabalin, Chairman of the Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing of Kirov region shared his opinion at the opening event. - It will involve not only children or adults, but also the most active part of the population – students - in this kind of sport. I think that here they can train for any competitions, and carry out both city and regional contents."

The project of the climbing wall was developed with the assistance of the Mountaineering and Climbing Federation of Kirov region. Decoration of the climbing wall was designed and implemented by students of VyatSU tourist club "Burevestnik” (Shearwater). The total height of the climbing wall is 10 meters and its area is 96 sq. meters.

"Our University has taken part in such contests for the fourth time already, annually we win and receive additional financing, - VyatSU Acting Rector Valentin Pugach says. - I am glad the University gets something new almost every week: a new laboratory is opened, classrooms are repaired, and modern equipment (including sports implements) is purchased. I think that on the basis of such sports objects there new athletes will appear, and they will set new records”.

The climbing wall is 10 meters high. The construction is provided with professional equipment in accordance with all safety regulation. And most probably in the future students from other Kirov universities will be able to train on this climbing wall as well.
