VyatSU students and graduates are unfading stars of Vyatka sport

On January 11 at the Regional Drama Theater there took place a traditional celebration for the best Kirov athletes and their coaches.

The special guests of the event the Olympic champions Sofiya Velikaya (fencing) and Alexei Mishin (Greco-Roman wrestling) wished the sportsmen a lot of new achievements.

Among the Top 10 of the best athletes of Kirov region (the most prestigious nomination) there were also VyatSU students from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports: Alexander Tkach (speed skating) and Eugene Vysotin (Greco-Roman wrestling), as well as recent graduates of this Faculty Alexey and Alexander Govorov (speed skating), Vyacheslav Novosyolov (fencing). VyatSU College student Irina Sukhinskaya was marked among the winners in modern pentathlon.

Throughout the entire evening there have been mentioned the names of coaches prepared those distinguished athletes. The fact is that most of these coaches are also graduated from VyatSU. Some of them have been still working at our University.

For example, an Associate Professor at the Department of adaptive physical education and teaching methods Vladislav Poperyokov prepared the winners of the School Basketball League of the Volga Federal District (a Sport School of Slobodskoy district). And the head of the Department of physical education Oleg Hlusyanov is a model for the students to follow, they are inspired by his personal example. Oleg Vladimirovich got an award in the nomination "Sport of veterans" for his last year success at the European Championships in judo in the category of Masters. There our Head of the Department of Physical Education took the third place, in the Croatian city of Porec.

The award ceremony at the Drama Theater included also a lot of spectacular sports and dance performances.
