The largest university in the region provided Kirov residents and guests of the city with a unique opportunity to join the spiritual heritage of Vyatka

The events of the Easter Festival "Singing Temples of Vyatka", dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the city of Kirov, attract a large number of visitors. The central event of the extensive program is a large musical marathon: choral singing is heard on the platforms of the cathedrals

In mid-April, the Easter festival "Singing Temples of Vyatka" started in Kirov. A large-scale project dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the city of Kirov is being implemented by the team of Vyatka State University together with partners.

- The Singing Temples of Vyatka" is a project that summarizes the capabilities of educational and cultural institutions. The central event is the concert program: sacred music will be played at the venues of the temple territories, the "Engineering" of the Vyatka State University. We are uniting in partnership with the large interregional festival "Raspberry Ring,- said project manager Yulia Kolobova, associate professor of the Department of Cultural Studies, Sociology and Philosophy of Vyatka State University.

She also remarked:

- It is very important for us to make a meaningful program in parallel. These are excursions, exhibitions that are created for the project; open lectures for citizens, master classes for children and adults. We want to attract the attention of residents and guests of the city to the spiritual heritage of Vyatka.

The rich program of the project is already in full swing, attracting a large number of visitors of all ages.

April 24 at the site of the house-museum of M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin gave an open lecture about metropolitan bishop Nestor (1885-1962), a native of Vyatka. The name of Vladyka Nestor, Bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, a missionary in Kamchatka, was a real discovery for the Kirov public. Nina Osipovna Osipova, professor at Vyatka State University, opened different aspects of this unique personality to the audience.

- Wherever fate and events threw me, I always and everywhere remembered ... the great purpose of the Russian person, in all my actions and thoughts, trying to show the feelings of a cordial, sympathetic attitude inherent in our great nation, - this quotation from Metropolitan Nestor ended the brilliant speech of the well-known culturologist.

The connection between Metropolitan Nestor and the family of the last Russian emperor was dedicated to the sketch of the documentary play “The Romanovs and Vyatka. Metropolitan Nestor”, presented after the lecture part. Artists of the Kirov Regional Drama Theater took part in the reading.

At the end, the audience shared their impressions.

- The choice of topic is very interesting. We were not familiar with the personality of Metropolitan Nestor at all. At the lecture we learned about his memoirs, about the Kamchatka mission. We will continue to study, probably because we saw interesting problems, - such a review was left by Ilya Kardakov, a 2nd year student of the Faculty of History, Political Sciences and Cultural Studies of Vyatka State University.

His groupmate Yegor Gordin added:

 - The personality of Bishop Nestor is multifaceted. He has been to many places. The life of the bishop was very interesting.

In the library for children and youth "A.S. Grin" was placed by the photo exhibition Hidden Churches of Vyatka 2.0.

This project has already been presented to the residents of Kirov - now it has been supplemented with new exhibits, the information has expanded even more. The tour, as usual, is conducted by Svetlana Dozhdeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Cultural Studies, Sociology and Philosophy of Vyatka State University: she tells in detail about each of the unusual objects, its history and today. Art pauses (as the organizers themselves defined the format of the events) with Svetlana Mikhailovna invariably bring benefit and pleasure to all participants.

A truly grand event of the Easter Festival took place on the last day of April. Hundreds of citizens came to the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist. First, there was a meeting with Archpriest Alexander Balyberdin, who was rector here in the 2000s. Father Alexander studied the history of the temple a lot - he passed on his knowledge during a tour of it.

-         This helped parishioners to get to know the history of this church, the history of our city, the unique people who participated in the creation, painting of the church, in its restoration, - Polina Pivovarova, a citizen of Kirov, noticed at the end of the tour.

The impression was further strengthened by a concert of choral sacred music arranged near the walls of the temple. Musical compositions were performed by the children's and youth church choir "Nika" and the male choir "Anesti", and the final number was the joint performance of the famous song "Stork on the Roof". The audience rejoiced and rejoiced. Spectator Olesya Isaenko shared:

A wonderful concert, very sincere, warm, for all ages. Informative lecture, amazing temple. Possibility to ring the bells.

This opportunity was provided at a master class on bell ringing. The event as a whole was a real holiday, bright, inspiring, uniting a variety of people! It was wonderful!

The Easter festival "Singing Temples of Vyatka" will continue until mid-June. Join the project group in VK, follow the announcements of events and be sure to become their participants!

The project is being implemented at the expense of the budget of the municipal formation "City of Kirov" within the framework of the competition of public initiatives "City of Good Neighbors".
