Regional competition of written translation works is addressed to schools and universities of Kirov and Kirov region.

Regional translation competitions organized by VyatSU Department of Linguistics and Translation have become traditional; as the current one -  held from September 11 to October 2 - is already the 10th in a row. High school and university students compete in written translation with great pleasure, so every year the number of participants is steadily increasing!

Professor Olga Baykova, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Head of VyatSU Department of Linguistics and Translation says:

- Interest in translation competitions is significant; so, while preparing we try to maintain it, in particular, offering texts on essential topics. This year we took environmental problems: they are always in the center of public attention, and especially now during the Year of Ecology in Russia!

In the nomination "Translation of a journalistic text from a foreign language into Russian" two variants of texts are offered in both English and German languages.

“Ode to translator” nomination for the best poetic translation from Russian is addressed to those who, apart from their translating talents, have a talent of a poet.

Each participant can take part in the competition for any nomination, and also in several ones.

"It's wonderful that young people show interest in translation, and we have an opportunity to identify school graduates capable of learning foreign languages, -  Olga Baykova says.

Such unobtrusive and non-boring career guidance is a contribution to the fact that VyatSU Faculty of Linguistics traditionally remains one of the most popular among applicants.

So, the competition has started!
