On October 17th an expert meeting for selection of platforms for approbation of management models of interaction of the Basic University with the region (government, business, society, and population) was held.
It should be noted that this contest was conducted by the National Training Foundation.
Totally 32 applications from Basic Regional Universities were received for this competitive selection.
13 winners were determined according to results of an expert commission evaluation; and Vyatka State University took the first place. Novosibirsk State Technical University and Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov are also in the top three.
“There is an obligatory task for Basic Regional Universities: each University should become a center of science, training of personnel and socio-cultural development of its region. An important criterion for obtaining the status of "Basic" (“Key”) was the University’s contribution to the development of its native region. First of all, they have to understand the main challenges and tasks facing them, direct their efforts there, build constructive interaction with both regional authorities and local industry. They are to become real drivers for regional development,”- Olga Vasilyeva, Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
Vyatka State University has been the main regional university since 2016. The mission of the University is formation of regional intellectual elite, scientific, innovative and entrepreneurial environment that create conditions for advance development of Kirov region.
VyatSU management worked out the University Development Program including 10 projects aimed at solving urgent problems of region.
The contest of the National Fund for Advanced Training considered presented management models that provide interaction between VyatSU and Kirov region, with some cases and best practices. Based on results of competitive selection and an expert commission opinion Vyatka State University took the first place and became the best platform for approbation of management models of interaction of the Basic University with the region.
