The foreign students presented Russian fairy tales and stories of Russian writers.

The Department of Russian as a foreign language of VyatSU Preparatory Faculty developed an interactive literary and theatrical presentation "Reading Russian fairy tales: language, traditions and modernity", dedicated to Russian New Year celebration, within a network partnership project with Pushkin Institute, and aiming development of cognitive interest in Russian traditional holidays, customs, and Russian writers’ works.

Students of the Preparatory shared this performance with the students of Vyatka Humanities Gymnasium, who, in their turn, prepared a play based on Gogol's novel "The Night Before Christmas" for the foreign guests.

Such extracurricular activities help the Preparatory Faculty students to solve the problems of adaptation and self-realization in a foreign cultural environment. In addition, participation of foreigners in staging Russian fairy tales and expressive reading of Russian writers’ texts are both comprehension of Russian culture, an attempt to understand our Russian mentality, and a special lesson of the Russian language.
