On January 25, the Russian Students’ Day, the Basic University management organized Big Students’ Games at the Theatre Square.
This day students could ride their Deans and teachers on top of tubes (“donates”), took part in a tug of war and in the competition for the best group sliding the hill.
In addition on this day for the first time in VyatSU history there was organized a friendly ice hockey match in felt boots between the Rector’s team and the team of students. Immediately after the initial whistle a serious struggle started at the field; it was clear neither the University management team nor the students were going to concede. The game attracted a lot of spectators, who supported the players despite the sudden frost.
The match was held in the atmosphere of a real sporting competition. The player’s spirit undoubtedly contributed to a general mood of the game, as well as HC "Rodina"’s participation in the match organization. This fact added some seriousness to the game. As a result of hard struggle both teams hit each other’s gates twice and the match ended in a draw. In spite of such an outcome both teams were satisfied with the game! All the players were awarded after the match.
The first in the history of VyatSU ice hockey match in felt boots will definitely not become the last one. Even a draw itself causes a desire to continue the fight. And perhaps next year one of the teams will win.
