Department History
The department was founded in 1934 by division of the Department of History into two separate parts: the Department of general history and the USSR history. A lot of Department traditions have been founded by talented lecturers and scientists: V.N. Nedelsky, V.S. Arutyunyan, G.A. Glushkov, T.A.Vorobyeva. From 1997 to 2010 the Department had been headed by Doctor of Historical Sciences Professor V.T.Yungblyud. Under his leadership a scientific school "The United States in the system of international affairs" and a research laboratory "International relations in the XX century" have been created. Within a period of his guidance the Department had increased significantly the number of scientific publications, including those in leading national academic journals. Currently the Department is headed by Alexey Alexandrovich Kostin.
In 2016 the Department of general history became a part of the Basic University due to the reorganization of VyatSU and VyatGGU, and now it successfully works under the name of World History and Political Science (abbreviation VIPN) including also a former Department of ethnology.
