The department of pedagogy and methods of preschool and primary education has a long history. It was established on the basis of the previously existing departments of two faculties - primary classes and preschool education.
In 2003, the Department was named the Department of Pedagogy and Methods of Preschool Education.The Department of Pedagogy and Methods of Preschool and Primary Education was formed on the basis of the merger of the previously existing departments of the Pedagogical Faculty in 2006. The head of the department was - Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, associate professor Lyudmila Nikolaevna Vakhrusheva.
Over the years, thousands of primary school teachers and specialists in the field of pre-school education have been trained.
Today, the Department trains bachelors on the direction "Pedagogical education" profiles:
- "Primary education";
- "Pre-school education";
- "Primary education. Additional education";
- "Primary education. Foreign language";
- "Pre-school education. Additional education".
In addition, there is a magistracy program on the direction "Pedagogical education", profile "Primary education".
The Department has a postgraduate course in "Theory of training and education" (Russian language).
At the Department, there is a scientific school under the guidance of the doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor G. Bakulina "Intellectual development of children of preschool and primary school age by means of subjectivization".
Every year the teachers of the Department conduct scientific seminars, organize conferences, which are attended by practical workers of pre-school educational establishments, primary school teachers, teachers-psychologists, school teachers, teachers of higher and secondary educational institutions of Russia.
