An important event in the world of sports programming took place on the first Saturday of October: qualification rounds of the quarterfinals of the most famous and prestigious student team championship ICPC were held in several regions of the country.
This year, Vyatka State University was one of the co-organizers of the Central Russia Regional ContestQualifier and attracted 15 teams to its venue. Many of them decided to try their hand at programming Olympiads for the first time, while showing respectable results.
In the overall standings among 157 teams from 16 venues (Arkhangelsk, Bryansk, Vologda, Ivanovo, Kirov, Kovrov, Kostroma, Obninsk, Oryol, Rybinsk, Tver, Tula, Cherepovets, Yaroslavl) the absolute first place was taken by the VyatkаSU 1 team consisting of Kirill Dekhterev (Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering, group IVTm-1301-01-00), Anna Prozorova (Faculty of Computer and Physical and Mathematical Sciences, group PMIm-1301-02-00) and Denis Smirnov (Faculty of Computer and Physical and Mathematical Sciences, group PMIb-4301-02-00).
The right to represent the University in the quarterfinals, which will be held on the basis of Yaroslavl State University named after P.G. Demidov at the end of October, also received the team VyatkaSU 8 consisting of Andrei Glushkov, Alexei Moshkin, Anna Okulova (all three - Faculty of Computer and Physical and Mathematical Sciences, group FIb-3301-51-00) and VyatkaSU 3 consisting of Valery Ilyin, Sergey Naumov, Victoria Rubtsova (all three - Faculty of Computer and Physical and Mathematical Sciences, group PMIb-2301-52-00). The trainer of all students is Tatyana Georgievna Prozorova, the senior teacher of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.
In general, the results of our University can be considered very encouraging: 11 out of 15 teams are located in the first half of the standings.
