On January 15, the Championship of the Volga Federal District finished in Novocheboksarsk (the Chuvash Republic). The indoors competitions were held among runners, jumpers, throwers and pushers. These sports event have gathered more than 700 athletes in total.
VyatSU students performed successfully in the track and field athletics categories. Pushers Irina Muravyova and Alexander Krutikov became Vice-Champions by taking the 2nd place in the Championship. Silver medals in the VFD Championship among participants younger than 23 years were awarded to Artem Eremeev (shot put), Maxim Sosegov (2000 meters hurdles) and Ivan Okunev (running at 60 meters).
VyatSU athletes are trained by V.D.Podkovyrin, an associate professor at the Department of Physical Education. Now he prepares the team to the Championship of the Russian student sports union, which will be held in February in Yaroslavl.
