An intensive German course was held by the Institute for Foreign Languages of North Rhine-Westphalia.
VyatSU Department of Linguistics and Translation informs that their students Alisa Danchenko, Elena Luchinina and Zakhra Alakbarova have successfully passed an intensive course at the Institute for Foreign Languages of North Rhine-Westphalia (Bochum, Germany).

Olga Baykova, the head of VyatSU Department of Linguistics and Translation explained that this opportunity was given to 3-4 year students of the Faculty of Linguistics by "Netzwerk D" – the inter-university agreement on an international consortium for studying German language and culture, signed by VyatSU in last June.

As a result, VyatSU future linguists together with students from Vologda, Nizhny Novgorod, Arkhangelsk, Smolensk, Tver and Yaroslavl attended lectures on stylistics, country study, grammar; translated a huge amount of texts from Russian into German; participated in discussions on topical public issues. Finally, an excursion to Cologne was organized for the participants of the educational program; thus, Russian students visited the Roman-German Museum and the unique Cologne Cathedral.

As a result all the participants received B2/ C1 certificates in accordance with the European competencies for foreign language proficiency.

The students noted In their collective review:
"We’ve gained tremendous experience, having got the opportunity not only to practice German, but also to take part in discussions on topics important for Germans. It was interesting to learn the information from the Germans themselves. The cultural program should be mentioned as well, the most striking event there was a trip to wonderful Cologne.

We were impressed by the brilliant level of Russian proficiency of some German teachers who conducted classes with us. Some difficulties also should be mentioned: for example, it was hard to switch to a new speech tempo during classes. However, teachers always encouraged us - it helped us to cope with uneasy situations.

We really liked the style of communication, the emphasis on courtesy and respect towards others, people responsiveness and openness. It was pity to say goodbye to this nice place where we had such a wonderful time.

Students are grateful for organization of such an event:
 - We would like to thank Valentin Pugach, rector of Vyatka State University, for giving us the opportunity of this language internship, Vladimir Banin, dean of the Faculty of Linguistics, Olga Baikova, Olga Obukhova and Yulia Berezina from the Department of Linguistics and Translation.
