A series of the Basic University projects has been highly appreciated by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

For two days Tyumen Industrial University has been attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, headed by Olga Vasilyeva, top managers’ teams from 11 basic universities of the country, the National Training Foundation, Moscow School of Management Skolkovo, as well as their colleagues from universities – candidates for a “basic” status from Orel, Samara, Ufa, Voronezh, and other cities.  At round tables, board discussions and meetings they talked about an implementation of project for creation and development of basic universities.

Kirov region’s Basic University was presented by its top-management’s team headed by an Acting Rector Valentin Pugach. The delegation took part in all key events, and presented VyatSU experience in development of biopharmaceuticals in Kirov region, also told about the main stages, results and processes of restructuring, and activities realized within the Program of the Basic University Development.

Biopharmaceuticals is a prior area for the University. It was given an additional boost since joining VyatGGU (Vyatka State Humanitarian University) to VyatSU. So possibilities of pre-clinical research and human resources preparing with a specialization in a proper laboratory practice have been expanded. In order to solve research problems VyatSU creates a Center for Excellence in the field of biopharmaceuticals. Being included into the University structure this Center actually takes over a function of a regional research center for development of new medicines.

VyatSU priorities development and the University Development Program were appreciated not only by colleagues, but also by the Ministry of Education and Science. VyatSU experience in implementation of the program "Governor's Personnel Reserve" was announced to be positive, as well as work on formation of teaching methods in engineering specialties for students with disabilities.

Finalizing a series of meetings Olga Vasilyeva said that the Ministry of Education and Science expected some feedback from basic universities to identify their main problems and ways to solve them:

“The program for basic universities has begun working in spring and has already brought the first results. Small regional universities unite in multi-profile basic universities, which in its turn get some financial support from the Federal budget. I am deeply convinced that pedagogical and social education is the key to success of a strong region”.

In February, 2017 there will be held a meeting, where the results of the first stage of basic universities’ creation in our country will be discussed. As a result, it is planned to make a list of proposals to adjust universities’ roadmaps and development programs in general.
