The winner of the “Science” track of the fourth season of the “Leaders of Russia” management competition will oversee a new direction in technology and energy consulting for bank clients.

27-year-old Maxim Bortnikov received a job offer from the first vice-president of Gazprombank, Natalia Tretyak, who was his mentor at the Leaders of Russia competition

- I have to accumulate various technological solutions that are being implemented to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and subsequently improve the ESG rating of Gazprombank customers, primarily industrial enterprises, - Maxim Bortnikov.

- Gazprombank has recently established a separate Center for the implementation of sustainable development principles in the bank's activities, which has already assembled a highly professional team in this area within its borders. I expect that Maxim's experience and knowledge will allow to expand the range of consulting services in the field of ESG, which the bank can offer its clients, - Natalya Tretyak, First Vice President of JSC Gazprombank, noted.

Maxim Bortnikov believes that his professional experience is well synchronized with the tasks to be solved in the new position:

- For the past five years, I have been involved in the technological part of sustainable development, namely, conducting energy surveys of industrial enterprises, managing various projects for the construction of distributed generation facilities, and solving issues of amine carbon dioxide capture.

But still, a weighty argument in deciding to change jobs and move from Kirov to Moscow for Maxim Bortnikov was a personal acquaintance with his mentor and future employer Natalya Tretyak.

- She is truly the most powerful boss and leader I have ever met, and it shows in everything: how she leads a discussion, how she talks to subordinates, how quickly she plunges into any problem, despite being busy. We managed to talk not only about work, but also about family, hobbies, which is very conducive. For me, this was an additional argument to agree to professional cooperation, - noted the graduate student of the Vyatka State University.

Maxim Bortnikov admits that he did not count on winning the "Leaders of Russia" and throughout the entire competition he was sincere and tried to enjoy a pleasant atmosphere and communication with interesting people.

- In fact, I have no connections, I come from the small town of Kirovo-Chepetsk. I think that Leaders of Russia gave me what I really lacked — the opportunity to communicate with federal experts and realize my experience and potential.

Maksim Bortnikov graduated from Vyatka State University with a degree in Industrial Thermal Power Engineering and is now a postgraduate student in Economic Security.

- In my Ph.D. thesis, I am developing a methodology with which it will be possible to assess how the introduction of certain energy transition technologies will affect the energy security of an enterprise and its ESG rating, and first of all, on SCOPE - greenhouse gas emissions, - said Maxim Bortnikov.

In total, more than 25 thousand Russians from all over the country became participants in the Science track, which has been held for two years as part of the Leaders of Russia competition for managers, 63 people were declared winners.

The Super Final of the fourth season of the Leaders of Russia contest will be held from 24 to 27 March 2022 in Moscow. All 300 participants in the superfinal will receive an educational grant in the amount of 1 million rubles, and 100 winners will also have the opportunity to work with the country's best managers.
